Itinerary Overview

Here’s a snapshot of our 13-day adventure. From the wildlife-packed plains of the Serengeti to the turquoise waters of Zanzibar.

Arusha

Our adventure began in Arusha, the gateway city to Tanzania’s safari circuit. After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we stayed at the Arusha Coffee Lodge—a perfect place to relax and prepare for the journey ahead.

Tarangire National Park

Our first safari destination was Tarangire National Park, known for its massive herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees. We spent three days exploring this wildlife haven, where we spotted giraffes, zebras, and even a few big cats! The peaceful ambiance and diverse wildlife made it an unforgettable introduction to Tanzania.

Ngorongoro Crater

Next, we traveled through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and made a pitstop at the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as “Africa’s Garden of Eden.” Traveling the rim of the crater, we marveled at its breathtaking scenery. We didn’t overnight here on this trip, but it was still great to say hello to this natural wonder and get a clear view of the crater.

Serengeti National Park

No safari in Tanzania would be complete without visiting the Serengeti, and we spent five magical days immersed in its vast landscapes. We witnessed the Great Migration—a breathtaking spectacle of wildebeest and zebras on the move—and enjoyed thrilling game drives with sightings of cheetahs, leopards, and even a pride of lions. We split our time between the Pioneer Camp in the south-central Serengeti, and the Migration Camp in the north, each offering a unique base camp for exploring different areas of the park.

Zanzibar

After our safari adventures, we traded the savannah for the sea and flew to Zanzibar, a tropical paradise with white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. We stayed in a beachfront hotel and spent our days exploring Stone Town’s vibrant culture, and soaking in the beauty of the Indian Ocean. It was the perfect way to unwind after an exhilarating safari.

We had a blast in Zanzibar, especially on this rooftop terrace overlooking Stone Town.
